When you think of Fort Lauderdale, images of beautiful beaches, vibrant nightlife, and luxurious waterfront living often come to mind. However, for those in the know, Fort Lauderdale also offers a thriving pickleball scene that attracts both locals and visitors alike.

What is Pickleball?

Pickleball, often described as a combination of tennis, badminton, and ping pong, is a rapidly growing sport in the United States. Played on a court with a paddle and a plastic ball, pickleball is accessible to people of all ages and skill levels. Its popularity has surged in recent years, with many communities across the country embracing the sport and Fort Lauderdale is no exception.

Fort Lauderdale boasts several venues where pickleball enthusiasts can enjoy the game. This article highlights the two most popular locations, provides the full list of all locations and provides a glimpse into “The Fort” – Fort Lauderdale’s upcoming destination for pickleball including 43 professional regulation courts and the world’s first dedicated pickleball stadium.

Holiday Park

Located in the heart of Fort Lauderdale and just minutes to Las Olas and the Downtown business district, Holiday Park is a popular spot for pickleball players. The park features 6 courts with ample space for both casual games and organized tournaments. Players of all skill levels frequent Holiday Park, creating a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere for everyone. Within the park, the pickleball courts are adjacent to the Florida Panthers IcePlex. The second floor restaurant within the IcePlex offers covered, outdoor seating (and a bar) where patrons can dine and watch the action on the pickleball courts below.

George English Park

Another popular Fort Lauderdale park with pickleball courts is George English Park. It’s about 10 minutes east from Holiday Park, off Sunrise Boulevard and tucked into the south end of the desirable Coral Ridge neighborhood (mostly single family homes with some condos and townhomes both waterfront and non waterfront). The park also features basketball courts and a waterfront walking path .. Just minutes from the pickleball courts.

Coming Dec 2024: The Fort

Located within Snyder Park at the southernmost end of Fort Lauderdale, The Fort will be home to 43 professional pickleball courts and the world’s first pickleball stadium. The state-of-the-art facility will also include 14 weatherproof courts, a pro shop, locker rooms, fitness recovery center, a 4,000 sq ft event center, golf simulators, volleyball, dining and drinking options and more.
